I have had the extreme good fortune of traveling fairly extensively throughout my life. My parents deserve most of the credit for dragging me along on their various adventures, though I like to think I was a pleasant traveling companion even at the age of six. Whether the elephant I am riding in the above picture in 1991 agreed, might be a different story.
As I explore the world as an adult, I increasingly recognize that my background helped train me to see connections and appreciate the complexity of the globe and human’s place in it. I was becoming an environmental historian before I knew what the term meant.
I’m posting a few of my experiences here, mainly to spare folks extended slideshows on my phone or commandeered screens when they ask for details. See China 2016 for example.
